Dr. Anne Scott

Dr. Anne Scott, DMD,  graduated form Oregon Health Sciences University in 1997. To further her studies, she completed a General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. Family and friends led her back to Portland, Oregon where she practiced for several years. She now has found her home practicing dentistry with her husband, Dr. Peter Yonan at Awbrey Dental Group.

Anne has pursued continuing dental education in several aspects of dentistry including cosmetic dentistry, endodontics, implants, pediatric dentistry and team management. She spends time volunteering at the Kemple Children’s Clinic to help children in need. Dr. Scott looks forward to getting to know her patients and enjoys maintaining lasting relationships.

Dr. Peter Yonan

After graduating from high school in Honolulu, HI, Dr. Yonan, DMD, attended the University of Oregon where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1988. After graduation, he moved to Portland to attend the Oregon Health Sciences University School of Dentistry.  In 1992, he received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. Following a one-year residency in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Yonan moved to Bend to open a practice.

Dr. Yonan established what is now Awbrey Dental Group in 1995 and is excited to be practicing in this new era of dentistry. He is passionate about creating beautiful smiles for his patients and stays on the leading edge of research and development of new materials and procedures.

Dr. Yonan has completed a number of post-graduate courses and educational programs, both in the United States and overseas, furthering his knowledge and experience in the fields of cosmetic dentistry, dental implants and complex restorative dentistry, which are areas of special interest for his practice.

Married to Dr. Anne Scott since 2002, Dr. Yonan is the father of a little girl named Mari. When he is not practicing dentistry, much of his time is spent participating in continuing education classes. In his spare time, he enjoys outrigger canoe paddling, windsurfing and cross country skiing.

Dr. David Dunscombe

Graduated from high school in 1967 from Monterey Bay Academy. He spent 3 years at Pacific Union College in California. Accepted to dental school in 3rd year, and then graduated from Loma Linda University in 1975 after four years in top 3rd of class in Senior Year. After completing requirements Dr. Dunscombe was allowed to take a mini-residency at Monument Valley Clinic as well as the Special Senior Surgery Program where he honed his skills in 3rd molar surgery and IV Sedation. He was also able to participate in the Implantology Program placing Blade Implants.

Dr. Dunscombe’s skills are in oral surgery and IV Sedation for 32 years without having an untoward effect - Endodontic excellence with large blocks of time spent in Endodontic Education, Dr. Ruddle in Santa Barbara being instrumental in his ability to acquire the skills in using microscopes extensively for Endodontics as well as Restorative procedures. Dr. Dunscombe also spent many years in Knathology Study Clubs to enhance his skills in Restorative Dentistry – he also spent time in Cosmetic Dentistry Study Clubs, Gold Foil Study Clubs and in a General Practice in all aspects of General Dentistry; restoring Implants, Endodontics, Restorative, Prosthetic and Geriatric Dentistry.

Dr. Dunscombe’s 32 years of solo practice terminated when he sold his practice  in 2006. The transition was smooth and since that time he has donated time to Medical Teams International and Locum Tenens in Oregon. He has maintained his licenses, permits, Malpractice Insurance and Continuing Education.

Mara Hansen, Hygienist

Mara is committed to serving those in need and has volunteered her services in the Ukraine and Honduras. She is also passionate about life-long learning to better serve her patients.  After beginning in the dental field 9 years ago Mara fell in love with what dentistry could offer to her patients.  Graduating with Honors from Oregon Institute of Technology,  Mara has been with Awbrey Dental Group since 2004.  Mara has had the opportunity to work in various dental settings and populations, which shows in her gentle and compassionate treatment style.  Her commitment to soft tissue therapy helps our patients achieve total mouth health.
In Mara’s time away from work she likes to take advantage of the great Central Oregon lifestyle  – skiing, hiking, biking, and fishing while taking any opportunity she has to spend time with her two black labs.

Julie Lutz, Hygienist

Julie, our gentle hygienist, is passionate about her work in helping patients achieve optimum health. She values her role in educating patients and customizing care to help them get and maintain the smile they have always wanted. Julie graduated from OIT Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene, and has been a chair-side assistant here at Awbrey Dental Group for 4 years before that. She enjoys wake-boarding, snowboarding and hiking.
